The Project
The Bruhn Bridge Replacement Project is part of BC Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure’s “Highway 1 Kamloops to Alberta Four-Laning Program” and will be built under The Government of BC’s recently introduced Community Benefits Agreement (CBA). The Project will replace the existing two-lane bridge with a four-lane bridge and upgrade the Trans Canada Highway to four lanes for approximately 2.5 km, starting near the western limits of the District of Sicamous, traversing the Sicamous Narrows, and terminating at the junction of TCH and Highway 97A.
Also included in the Project is an extensive amount of rock cut to allow sufficient room for highway widening West of Sicamous, a four-lane overpass on the TCH, a much needed multi-use path for pedestrians and cyclists, and demolition of the existing bridge.
